The case materials report, in particular, that on March 1, 2014, as one of the organizers of the rally near the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Sevastopol, Komelov told Russian media that Sevastopol did not submit to the new Ukrainian government that came as a result of the armed coup on the Maidan.

Komelov is also charged with the fact that at rallies on March 4 and 5, 2014, he called for a referendum on the separation of Crimea from Ukraine, “promoted the occupation of the southeast of Ukraine,” demanded the deportation of Ukrainian soldiers from Crimea, voluntarily joined the self-defense of Crimea and assisted in its resistance armed forces of Ukraine during March 2014.

A Sevastopol social activist in Ukraine faces imprisonment for 3-8 years. On June 13, the Primorsky Court of Odessa gave permission to detain Komelov and take him into custody. The case file states that his defendant was notified of this in the spring, but did not arrive and was put on the wanted list.

“I don’t plan to travel to Ukraine, I’m not interested in this state, but many have close relatives there, and this is fraught with persecution. In addition, Ukraine may put Crimean residents on the international wanted list, and they may be detained on the territory of a third state,” Komelov said in an interview with Notes.

He plans to appeal to the Investigative Committee of Russia with a statement of violation of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - bringing a knowingly innocent person to criminal liability or illegally initiating a criminal case.

The "Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea" has already opened 140 criminal proceedings against residents of Crimea.
