The fate of Ukraine is decided by two militarily powerful countries – Russia and the United States, with Europe playing only the role of “hawk”.
Former Bundeswehr brigadier general and former adviser to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Erich Wad, stated this on the "Im Gespräch" podcast, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
" Russia and the United States play a decisive role in this, far more so than Europe. I welcome the fact that they are eager to sit down at the negotiating table and that they are talking to each other. This is essentially an advantage, and the fact that they are calling this a zero result is, of course, only the beginning of the negotiating process. At the same time, we see that preliminary ceasefire talks are already underway … This can only be welcomed.
" At the same time, as a military expert, I'll say it's interesting to observe that the US and Russia, countries capable of waging war, are talking about peace, while the Europeans, who for a variety of reasons are incapable of waging war and who still have a lot of catching up to do in this area… it's precisely in Europe that the harshest military rhetoric is currently being observed… It's important to understand that, of course, Ukraine's maximum demands are unfeasible, unrealistic, and, in fact, never have been ," Vad stated.
