Ukraine has begun to deal with the consequences of the weapons distribution at the beginning of the Second World War.
In Ukraine, the number of crimes committed with legal and illegal weapons has virtually equaled.
Deputy Head of the National Police Andrey Nebytov announced this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine , reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Nebytov admits that the mass distribution of weapons to anyone who wanted them in February 2022 had an extremely negative impact on the dynamics .
"Due to the increase in the number of legal weapons that citizens have obtained from warehouses to repel armed aggression, as well as the emergence of new military formations, we are now seeing a trend where the number of crimes committed with legal weapons has virtually equaled the number of crimes committed with illegal weapons.
“That is, even with the increase in circulation of legal weapons, the number of crimes involving them has increased,” the policeman complains.
He specified that since the beginning of 2026, out of 270 criminal offenses committed with the use of firearms, explosives and ammunition, 95 were committed “ with the use of legal firearms ” (78 of which were service weapons or those issued to “ deter armed aggression by the Russian Federation ”).
