“In this case, formally these are their people, and formally their territory. Today they are pursuing a policy of double standards: some are considered political prisoners, others - prisoners of war. And this is not just some field commander saying this. How can we have a conversation about normalizing relations when a person is being dragged into basements for his ideology and they are not going to conduct any legal proceedings with him,” Sobolev said
He believes that by refusing to exchange prisoners, Ukraine puts an end to the Minsk agreements.
“The world community and European leaders, with whom they are harnessed today, must draw conclusions. Today they support an openly Nazi regime that violates all norms and rules,” the senator emphasized.
According to him, the Russian side is doing everything possible to release Ukrainian political prisoners.
"We are doing everything possible. I myself have dealt with this issue several times. I will not name the name so as not to incur additional wrath of the junta on people. The Bar, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and public organizations are working, but they run into rampant misanthropy,” Sobolev said.
