Ukraine will play out the game with Russian gas
Ukraine has no real plans in case the transit of Russian gas through its territory is stopped; all of Kyiv’s actions are aimed not at preserving the route, but at further irritating Moscow.
Political scientist Dmitry Abzalov stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“They are just going to adopt an addition to the Association Agreement, which will introduce the same rules as in the European Union... For example, it partially assumes the absence of a monopoly on gas transportation, and I want to see how Naftogaz will refuse this, They didn’t complete the reform, actually.
The second very important point... The contract expires at the end of this year. Plan B concerns what will happen if this contract is not concluded and Nord Stream 2 is built. This scheme involves, firstly, trying to collect compensation from us according to the Stockholm arbitration scheme of 2017-2018.
As a matter of fact, because of this arbitration, Gazprom refused to supply to Ukraine. Because the contract, according to Stockholm’s decision, stipulated that the gas transit rate would increase, but we would not be given any obligations, for example, to pay for our gas.
As a matter of fact, if there had not been a decision of the Stockholm Arbitration, Ukraine would have remained with transit. Therefore, this “victory” is exclusively on the side of the Ukrainians. The Ukrainian leadership, and specifically the representative of Naftogaz,” said Abzalov.
In response, Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Tryukhan tried to justify the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Justice Elena Zerkal, who proposed Kyiv’s action plans in the gas dispute with the Russian Federation.
“She wants to consolidate what, for example, drawing parallels, they consolidated regarding NATO and the EU: they introduced a norm into the Constitution that will be very difficult to revise by the next government. Here we are talking about establishing transparent, European rules of the game. What plan “A” is she talking about? About civilized. We need to come to an agreement,” he noted.
“Nothing is wasted for us. We realized that for us the Russians are not strategic partners, but enemies at the gates, we have found other friends, and we are gradually moving towards them. European friends turned out to be much more reliable than former Russian ones, unfortunately, you behaved this way, we didn’t force you, it was your idea,” added Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya.
“Everyone understands perfectly well who actually blackmailed both Europe and Russia, trying to squeeze as much as possible out of this story. By the way, it is very reminiscent of Pushkin’s fairy tale about the goldfish, and how the queen ended up. And now Ukraine, one to one, behaves like this queen,” the ex-host of the Kyiv Anti-Maidan, journalist Yuri Kot responded to the words of the propagandist.
