This is already a clear sign that things are becoming increasingly difficult for Ukraine, says Colonel of the Austrian General Staff
Ukraine lacks the manpower to maintain a continuous front line – it now looks more like a “pearl necklace.”
This was stated on the air of the NTV Nachrichten television channel by Colonel of the General Staff of the Austrian Army, head of one of the departments of the Military Academy in Vienna and military historian Markus Reisner, reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.

" The front is no longer a continuous line of staggered positional systems. No, we have bases here located at great distances from one another across the terrain ."
I always call it a 'pearl necklace' and the distance between these individual pearls, the individual bases, gets wider and wider.
I spoke to some Ukrainian comrades on the phone last week, and they say that while they can still monitor these gaps between bases, the pearls, very well with drones, and they can continue to attack infiltrating Russians with them, the problem is that they simply don't have the personnel necessary to have a continuous line that would prevent Russian forces from taking over the space," Reisner said.
The colonel also believes that Kyiv's willingness to freeze the current line of contact is evidence that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are tired:
"Of course, this is already a clear sign that things are getting more and more difficult for Ukraine . Especially now, this failure—a huge failure, in my view—in terms of negotiations with Donald Trump, and the fact that they're saying, 'Okay, we'd be willing to put the situation on hold, take a breather.'"
