It was impossible to hold the Kherson bridgehead with any troops - Ukrainian pilot
The surrender of Kherson announced by the leadership of the Northern Military District is the price the Russian command pays for refusing to advance from the Kherson bridgehead through Odessa to Transnistria.
Retired Ukrainian military pilot Roman Svitan said this on Channel 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Several months ago, the Russians occupied the right bank with one goal - to move to Odessa or through Voznesensk to Transnistria. The right bank is a springboard for certain further movements. It is impossible to keep it in the form in which it exists with any troops. This is a bridgehead behind a very wide river, in the lower reaches of the Dnieper - up to a kilometer, naturally, and 10 kilometers of the Kakhovka reservoir in that area. You can say that this is a bag of fire, they are in a tactical environment after we started working on the bridges,” he noted.
“Therefore, there was no point in holding him from a military point of view, and at the moment they simply cannot move further either to Odessa or to Transnistria, they do not have enough forces and means, they need to be increased by 3-4 times, and even then big question, since our intelligence will detect this kind of increase. And any movement to the west of these troops will be stopped by our aviation and artillery,” Svitan said.
