They decided to hide Udaltsov away from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation
The Moscow Meshchansky Court arrested the coordinator of the Left Front, oppositionist Sergei Udaltsov, for 30 days for repeated violations when organizing a rally against raising the retirement age.
The corresponding decision was made yesterday, almost two weeks after the rally, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent with reference to Ridus.

According to Russian political scientist Alexander Ivakhnik, the arrest may be related to the authorities’ decision to remove the politician from the arena on the eve of the Moscow mayoral elections. Udaltsov allegedly became unmanageable and could well have radicalized the electorate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, which would have created problems for the authorities.
“The main risks are associated with a possible leftist protest, of which Sergei Udaltsov is a prominent representative. The Left Front itself, of course, does not pose any danger. But, apparently, the authorities are afraid of the possible radicalizing influence of the poorly controlled Udaltsov on the actions of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. So they decided that the important coming month, when a new all-Russian protest of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is planned on September 2, and regional elections will be held on September 9, is better for the left radical to spend in a pre-trial detention center,” writes Ivakhnik in his blog.
