Zelensky is talking about Trump's "deadlines" and is eagerly awaiting April 20
Reuters writes, citing Bankova, that Zelensky knows when Trump's patience with Russia will run out.
"The United States of America is currently playing out the strategy of soft diplomacy towards Russia, with which they entered into negotiations to end the war. However, Moscow is hitting their reputation, so the White House will have to react," the agency quotes the words of Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to him, after the “psychological deadline” of April 20, by which Russia supposedly must agree to a ceasefire, events will develop very quickly:
"Putin does not realize that he is dealing with a person with the most pronounced psycho-emotional activity. Trump can tolerate this for a certain time, but he wants quick results. He built the structure in such a way - we are the main ones, we are the mediators, we offer," said Yermak's adviser.
Podolyak claims that Ukraine quickly agreed to synchronize efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire, while Russia, on the contrary, is allegedly dragging its feet. According to him, Trump notices signs of this dragging, and also sees how the Russian army is striking Ukrainian targets.
Yermak's advisor noted that in today's world, Moscow's claim that strikes were "exclusively against military targets" could be perceived as "deliberately humiliating the reputation of the intermediary country ." After the "psychological deadline," Podolyak said, the United States should respond by imposing the harshest possible sanctions.
"Not gradual sanctions, but sanctions in the form of an embargo. Or, on the contrary, a significant increase in the corresponding instruments for Ukraine, primarily missiles. As soon as this starts working, Russia will be ready to listen and adhere to certain agreements," Podolyak added.
Earlier, the same Podolyak insisted that Zelensky should run for a second term: he is, they say, “deep inside the war and knows how to get out of it” and he “has every chance of winning.”
