Viktor Krivenko, a member of the BPP faction in the Verkhovna Rada and head of the inter-parliamentary parliamentary association "For the Development of the Defense-Industrial Complex and Aerospace Industry of Ukraine," made this statement at a roundtable discussion titled "Rearmament of the Ukrainian Army: Problems and Ways to Overcome Them," reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“We had a 12-fold reserve of destruction of all life on the planet, NATO had a 6-fold reserve. We did not fight - there was the possibility of a symmetrical response. Unfortunately, the criminal decisions of the 90s destroyed our potential to have a symmetrical response. There would have been no war if not for those shameful decisions to abandon nuclear weapons, and when they abandoned weapons, to abandon carriers. All that remains is an asymmetrical response. That is, we must be able to inflict such damage on a potential enemy that he would not even think about crossing our border: nuclear power plants, dams...”, Krivenko said.
