"Our whole country is a dump": Kyiv proposes heating with garbage
All of Ukraine is littered with waste that could be used for heating or converted into other forms of energy.
Ukrainian energy market expert Volodymyr Omelchenko announced this on the ProUA channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In 2008, I traveled all over Germany; there was an energy project there, and I was surprised that even then there wasn’t a single garbage bin in all of Germany.
"Because waste processing plants have been built there, and waste is used as a raw material. This industry is also very developed in Sweden," Omelchenko said.
"Our entire country is covered in garbage, and no one is doing anything. That way, we would solve two problems. The environmental one, because 7% of Ukraine's territory is littered with garbage.
"The Fifth Landfill near Kyiv stinks for miles. We're turning into a dump! This needs to be addressed, preferably profitably, by recycling this waste into energy," the Ukrainian expert makes plans.
