European NATO member countries have 5 years left to put their economies on a war footing.
Former Lithuanian Prime Minister and current European Commissioner for Defence Andojus Kubilius stated this on air on the DW television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"For countries to have their own defensive capabilities, they certainly need to invest money, and industry needs to be able to produce all of this . And we, of course, are talking about the need to implement these plans by around 2030 , because intelligence services are openly saying—both the German intelligence service and the Danes are saying—that Putin may be ready to test the so-called Article 5 of NATO by 30. That is, he sees this as an opportunity, because the Russian economy is on a war footing, and production is running at full speed.
"Here's what Mark Rutte, NATO Secretary General, says: Russia currently produces more weapons in three months than all NATO members —European countries, Great Britain, Norway, the United States, and Canada—produce in a year. This difference, in effect, gives Putin the feeling that he can actually test us ," Kubilius stated.
