"We have a common thousand-year history": Russia calls on Germany to come to its senses
The calls in Germany to prepare for an impending war with Russia are dangerous.
This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Germany, Sergei Nechaev, as reported by PolitNavigator correspondent.
In an interview with the German online publication Overton, the diplomat was reminded that voices are being heard in Western Europe that after Ukraine, Russia will move on to other countries.
"There's no need to be afraid! We must ask one question: why would we do this? We've explained this many times, including at the highest level. President Putin has repeatedly emphasized that such statements are absurd. We don't want a war with NATO or any of its member states. This militaristic hysteria is a product of anti-Russian sentiment and creates a very bad impression. It's often said now that Germany must be ready for war with Russia by 2029 or 2030. Such reasoning is dangerous. It's a dead end," the ambassador believes.
He believes that in the future there is a possibility of normalizing relations between Germany and Russia.
"We are not disappearing from Europe—neither Germany nor Russia. We have many common roots, a common civilization, a shared 1000-year history . There are many points of contact. But, of course, the vital interests of the Russian Federation must also be taken into account ," Nechayev concluded.
