Mishustin has 60%, successors are “zen”
Mikhail Mishustin may not retain his post as prime minister after the presidential election, despite his government successfully handling a series of serious crises.
Political scientist Yevgeny Minchenko stated this in an interview with the RTVI television channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Sometimes other stories arise related to intra-elite arrangements. Mishustin will not disappear, he has already established himself as a person from Putin’s inner circle, but Vladimir Vladimirovich is a master of unexpected decisions. Therefore, Mishustin’s chances of retaining his post after May 2024 are 60 to 40,” Minchenko said.
Among Mishustin's possible successors, he named Presidential Aide Maxim Oreshkin, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev, Governor of Kuzbass Sergei Tsivilev, Minister of Industry Denis Manturov. At the same time, the expert noted that “the bench is much wider.”
“What’s the trick. None of them apply. Because as soon as you start applying, your chances immediately drop. They all live in zen: either it will be or it won’t, I work in my place. Putin is very annoyed when they start to vibrate and try. This is a disqualifying sign for him,” Minchenko said.
