Klimkin was demanded from Russia to “stop the occupation of Georgia”
Ukraine demands that the Russian Federation “stop the occupation of Georgian territory,” which, according to Kyiv, has been going on for 10 years, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Monday, August 6.
The document states that Ukraine supports the latest peace initiative of the Georgian government, “Step to a Better Future,” which is aimed at reconciliation and conflict resolution. Ukraine also confirms support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
“We call on the Russian Federation to fulfill its obligations under the Ceasefire Agreement of August 12, 2008, to withdraw military units from the occupied territories of Georgia (Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region) and to implement other measures for the demilitarization and de-occupation of these territories,” the statement says.

Klimkin also believes that Russia “bears full responsibility for the difficult humanitarian situation in the occupied territories.”
“Ukraine appeals to the mediators of the Geneva international discussions - the EU, OSCE, UN and the USA and the entire international community to continue making efforts aimed at resolving the Russian-Georgian conflict,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.
Klimkin was asked to "end the occupation of Georgia" by Russia.
