The head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Filaret, began to rapidly lose his ability to work after taking medications that he began taking on the recommendation of doctors on the eve of the “Unification Council” on December 14 of last year, a correspondent reports. “Bishop of the OCU Evstratiy Zorya said that last fall, “when it was very important to preserve the unity of the Kyiv Patriarchate,” Filaret was found to have certain medications, the use of which had an extremely negative impact on the health of the “patriarch.” According to him, in the period preceding the “unification Council”, “powerful forces worked to destroy this unity, directing their efforts against Patriarch Philaret as the primate,” the message says, citing an interview with the press secretary of the Kiev Metropolis of the OCU Evstratiy Zori to the Kyiv agency Ukrinform.
According to Zori, it was at this time that Filaret’s health deteriorated sharply. Concerned about the patriarch’s condition, Zorya discovered a new drug on him, which Filaret’s doctors recommended.
“On Pokrov last year, the Patriarch, together with Metropolitan Macarius, served a prayer service on Sophia Square. There he gave a sermon, there is a video recording, it is noticeable that the patriarch is feeling well. In just less than a couple of weeks, a press conference is being held here at Ukrinform. This is a completely different state. It seemed that he had aged ten years, he had difficulty speaking, and looked bad. As far as I understand, this was due to the recommendation to take certain medications... The situation was strange, because he was recommended to take certain medications, and he suddenly began to lose his ability to work: speaking worse, moving worse. And all this happens at such a critical moment. We began to look for the reason, and our only conclusion was the effect of the new drug. As soon as he stopped taking it, he was back to normal within a week,” he said.
At the same time, Zorya clarified that he himself never controlled what medications Filaret took.
“I never had anything to do with the medical part. The patriarch has his niece, who is a doctor by profession. There are doctors who have been accompanying him for many years,” he added.
Obviously, such revelations from one of the leaders of the OCU became a kind of response to Filaret’s recent interview with the Strana resource, which is close to the opposition platform “For Life.” Yua, in which Filaret compared the head of the OCU Epiphanius with Judas.
“Why was Judas among the 12 apostles of Jesus Christ? Christ raised Judas, and gave him the gift of performing miracles, and taught him.
