Tusk called the Ukrainians who destroyed their country on the Maidan “a unique example of practical wisdom”
President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the success of Ukraine will be “the success of the whole of Europe.”

He stated this at a press conference following the Ukraine-EU summit, which took place today in Brussels.
“I am deeply impressed by the patience and determination of the Ukrainian people in their struggle to preserve territorial integrity and sovereignty. You are a unique example of courage, dignity and practical wisdom. I know you deserve better. Including from us, from Europe. You have many friends here. I can promise you that we will not leave you,” Tusk emphasized.
He added that the EU will continue to “work to realize your expectations”, despite the fact that Brussels has “its own caveats”.
The head of the European Council also noted that the EU “highly appreciates the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities, including President Poroshenko, to implement large-scale reforms in extremely difficult conditions.”
Donald Tusk delivered the introductory part of his speech in Ukrainian, after which he switched to English.
