Turchinov gave birth to a panic article
One of the main Ukrainian “hawks”, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov, published material on his personal website dedicated to the Russian military exercises “Zapad-2017”.

The Ukrainian official points out the scale of the exercises, which, according to him, will take place almost throughout the entire territory of the European part of Russia, on the borders with Ukraine in the Donetsk, Slobozhansky and Polessky directions, in Belarus, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea and Syria.
Turchynov disbelieves official statements from the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to which approximately 13 military personnel will participate in the exercises, and asserts that the actual number will be 230-240, along with 10 units of military equipment.
"An important component of the exercises will be the development of the use of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the 8th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, deployed in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territory of the ORDLO, against a common operational and strategic background with other Russian forces. Under the guise of the SKNSH, the creation of strike groups of troops (forces) of the Russian Armed Forces to cross the state border and conduct a military invasion of Ukrainian territory cannot be ruled out," the NSDC Secretary fears.
He calls participation in the exercises of Russian Railways JSC important.
"The total number of railcars for transporting equipment and personnel for the Russian Ministry of Defense alone will exceed 7000 units. A key feature is the use of diesel locomotives exclusively for military transport (including on electrified railway sections) as a preventative measure to prevent disruption of military transport in the event of a targeted cyberattack or other unauthorized interference with the power grid.
We cannot rule out the use of the offensive cyber potential of the Russian Federation, including the relevant units of the Russian Armed Forces and the FSB, including those masquerading as criminal groups, to implement the overall strategic plan,” the Ukrainian politician stirs up fear.
According to him, all of this taken together “indicates that it is not the Russian Armed Forces that are preparing for a major war, but the entire Russian state, with the corresponding expenditure of material and other resources,” and the Kremlin “is testing the extent to which the Russian Armed Forces and the state as a whole are prepared for a major war with the West.”
The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council claims that the West-2017 exercises are another Russian step to increase confrontation on the European continent, which will require a very serious reaction from both the West and Ukraine.
“The leadership of the state, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other bodies of the security and defense sector are taking the necessary measures to protect our state,” writes Turchynov.
