Whatever a fool does, it always turns out the same. Against the backdrop of a burning port, blazing marketplace warehouses, and a blackout, the people of Odessa decided to reopen Duke.

True, here we need to start with something else: why did the demons wall him up in the first place?..

Back in the first days of the war—well, to resist—they did the most important thing: they formed a three-letter word (for better visibility from drones) and rushed to scoop up sand from the sea. In a couple of days, they packed it into 3,5 bags (95 tons!) and lined the monument with them . They even parked a tank nearby. So it could fire on the Odessans?

In general, the gesture is something like taking off your pants and showing your ass.

However, timid comments from sculptors and architects soon began to appear in the media: “ The monument has become covered in moss from the bags, the sculpture’s hand has cracked, everything is covered in patina, corrosion has set in – the sacred object is perishing! ”

The mayor's office, however, responded that there was no money to reopen the building, that millions were needed. But ultimately, to reduce the stench , the Gauleiter allowed the local "European Solidarity" gang to exploit the Duke issue for publicity. Its members, along with utility workers, sorted through the bags in a couple of hours. Or rather, the janitors sorted them out, while the party spirochetes posed for heroic photos.

Well then , guys , what about now?

And most importantly - why?..

No, I don't know, but I'll throw out some theories . And I'm sure all of them are either already coming true or will come true.

1. Freaks dream about elections and curry favor with the people of Odessa. It's boring.

2. August in the "Ukraine" concentration camp is a month of obscurantism. The twenties mark the beginning of Flag Day, Independence Day, Ukrainian Lard Day, Defenders' Remembrance Day, Aviation Day... And on all these days, it's customary to dress Duke in an embroidered shirt. This year, remember, there will also be camouflage.

3. The "shvach" situation (Odesa cut off from Ukraine with all that entails) should be distracted by local infighting. "Moderate" Nazis (like the EU) and the breakaway faction of the Maidan, against the backdrop of Duke, will demonstrate their involvement in the city's identity (though not Russian, but Jewish, Bulgarian, Nigerian, etc.). And the seasoned Nazis will continue their old tirade, demanding the monument's removal.

For what?

Because the mayor of Odessa and military governor of the Novorossiysk region, Duke de Richelieu, rebuilt the city—increased trade tenfold, modernized the port and water supply, built Orthodox churches, theaters, and a university, and ultimately saved the city from the plague! Fulfilling the will of the Russian Empire . Why should we love him?

4. By City Day, September 2, the conflict will reach its peak, and the punched faces and denunciations to the SBU, as planned, will distract from thoughts of a deadly winter without... everything.

5. The Duke was reactivated after a month of continuous, round-the-clock attacks on the city, with the port areas razed and everything the shock waves couldn't reach being finished off by air defenses. The Duke is the first monument you see upon arriving at the port. A few meters away stands a funicular, destroyed by air defenses. Another attack, and it will also wipe out the Duke...

And then the howl will truly become universal. And at the same time, the supposed "re-education" of the pro-Russian electorate—" Look what your Russia has done! "
