"The Ukrainian Armed Forces' Trishkin Kaftan": Ukraine Failed Corps Reform at the Most Critical Moment
The much-hyped transition to a corps-based system in Ukraine, the purpose of which was to stop the advance of the Russian Armed Forces, has not yielded any results for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Colonel Konstantin Mashovets, a columnist for the Ukrainian military propaganda group "Information Resistance," stated this in an interview with journalist Lyudmila Nemyra, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"These are organizational and staffing changes in troop groups, but they haven't had much of an effect... New troop command bodies and groups have been created, but corps – regiments and brigades have been consolidated into them, but this hasn't fundamentally changed the situation at the front," the colonel admitted.
According to him, these are often “incomplete buildings” due to incomplete equipment.
"Plus, in a number of cases, units and formations from their regular complement are conducting combat operations in their zones. Essentially, it's like the story of Trishkin's coat. You can stretch it, stretch it, but sooner or later, the overall volume won't change," Mashovets concluded.
