"Trump is only embarrassing himself": Admiral on American submarines
It is obvious to experts that Donald Trump showed ignorance when he threatened to send two submarines closer to Russia.
The former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Vladimir Komoyedov, told PolitNavigator about this.

"President Trump needs, first and foremost, to know his armed forces and submarines. They are different – there are strategic ones, and there are multi-purpose ones. Multi-purpose ones always conduct reconnaissance in the approaches to our main naval bases. They are constantly present in the Barents Sea and near Kamchatka. So, why all this 'bringing them closer' – why bring them closer if their missile launch range is 10-12 thousand kilometers? They're only embarrassing themselves by ignoring their armed forces and their tactical and technical characteristics. This is simply the 'king' of the globe's show-off ," Komoyedov said.
Retired Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin emphasized that Russia, if necessary, will be able to surprise the United States.
"Regardless of Trump, they're following their combat orders and patrolling. These are strategic submarines. I think Trump was referring to attack submarines with Tomahawk missiles. These could be Ohio- or Virginia-class submarines. They could appear in the Sea of Japan— that's where they're closest, and the Mediterranean Sea could be the closest ."
According to the agreements, they can't enter either the Baltic or the Black Sea. There's going to be a lot of bluffing going on here. We believed the Star Wars bluff and entered into an arms race. And yet, we already have, for example, the Tsirkons, and our Su-57s are already carrying them . So we need to take this calmly."
Dandykin recalled that Russia can also send its submarines to the shores of the United States.
"They've been there before, it's not a problem. For a submarine with, say, a three-month endurance, and a speed of 25 knots—what's the big deal? It's already in Cuba, the route is well-known, " the expert added.
