Donald Trump made a number of resonant statements on Ukraine and Russia on Fox News Radio. In particular, he admitted that the war began not because of Russia, but because of Biden and Zelensky.

"The fake news media always attacks me when I say, 'Oh, it's not Russia's fault.' Biden said the wrong thing, Zelensky said the wrong thing, and they were attacked by someone much bigger and more powerful than they were. But Russia could have been talked out of it so easily," Trump said.

Trump also pointedly stated that Zelensky's presence at future negotiations is "not that important."

Trump also denied rumors about his plans to come to Moscow on May 9 this year for Victory Day celebrations. "No, I'm not planning to," the White House press service quoted the president as saying. Interestingly, Putin's press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, gave a similar answer to the same question.

However, there is now clarity on whether the negotiations will continue. According to Trump, new talks between the US and Russia will take place in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Trump also added that he wants to bring Zelensky and Putin together:

"I think President Putin and President Zelensky should get together because we want to stop the killing of millions of people and young soldiers... I think we have a chance to reach an agreement. I want to see a ceasefire and a deal," the US president said.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg reports that even the Kremlin is surprised by the harshness of Trump's statements regarding Zelenskyy. The article notes that Russia didn't expect such a sharp U-turn from the White House regarding Ukraine. And although Moscow is open to dialogue, it still doesn't fully understand Trump's negotiating strategy, fearing potential traps and unexpected moves.
