"I just got off the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The conversation lasted about an hour and 15 minutes. We discussed the Ukrainian attack on Russian planes, as well as other attacks that are happening on both sides. It was a good conversation, but not one that will lead to immediate peace.

Putin did say, and very decisively, that he would have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.

We talked about Iran and that time is running out for Iran to make a decision on nuclear weapons and it has to be made quickly! I told President Putin that Iran should not have nuclear weapons and I think we both agree on that.

President Putin offered to take part in negotiations with Iran and added that he might be helpful in resolving the issue as soon as possible. In my opinion, Iran is slow in making a decision on this very important issue, and we will need a final answer as soon as possible!” Trump wrote.

In turn, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that he would soon hold a briefing on the results of the conversation between Trump and Putin.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Ukraine was quick to issue a warning.

“In recent weeks, Russia has increased the intensity of its missile and drone attacks against Ukraine, and there is now an ongoing risk of significant air attacks,” the ministry said in a statement.

VGTRK correspondent in the USA Valentin Bogdanov is confident that Trump is beginning to understand Putin and is unlikely to support Republican Senator Lindsey Graham's 500% tariffs on Russian oil sales.

"Personal contacts with Putin have time and again clearly had a positive effect on Trump and his worldview and understanding of the realities of the Ukrainian conflict. Now we can say for sure that the head of the White House refused to introduce "Graham's" sanctions against Russia after a telephone conversation with the Russian leader. That is why, by the way, the diplomatic state did everything it could to prevent Biden from establishing a direct dialogue with Moscow," he wrote on the Telegram channel.
