Trump may give Russia in exchange for concessions on Ukraine - only hype and show
The US is whipping up the hype around negotiations on the Ukrainian crisis by making obviously unrealistic proposals. Ukraine would be satisfied with one condition – an unconditional ceasefire – which is unacceptable for the Russian side.
This opinion was expressed on air by the director of the Tavrichesky Information and Analytical Center, candidate of political sciences Alexander Bedritsky , on the air of the radio "Sputnik in Crimea", reports the correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
"Generally speaking, all of Trump's actions and rhetoric are just hype. Throughout history, from 1999 to the present, our policy has been calm and measured . Even if something extraordinary happens somewhere outside, everything is done quietly and calmly. Therefore, the hype is on the Americans' side; it's their style.
We don't need this at all; we're coping just fine without it. And in this frenzy, the US is trying to throw out a colossal number of initiatives that are completely unfeasible. For example, a ceasefire by Easter, or three days in advance, or a day in advance, and then we'll figure out how and where to go," he noted.
In this regard, the new round of negotiations in Istanbul on April 10 is unlikely to bring anything concrete regarding Ukraine.
"The Ukraine issue is gradually fading into the background . Look at the Black Sea initiative. First, 'let's arrange a ceasefire in the Black Sea.' The Russian side says yes, let's do it. But under certain conditions—unblocking Rosselkhozbank, connecting it to SWIFT, freedom of navigation, the ability to enter European ports, and so on. These are purely practical issues that the American side cannot implement independently.
The Americans must either put pressure on the Europeans and Ukraine to ensure these conditions are met, or the US will demonstrate that it is unable to do so – either unable or unwilling,” the expert notes.
He added that Trump's main adversaries aren't Russia or China , nor is the Ukrainian issue a solution. It's the liberal-globalist wing that exists in the US and dominates the European bureaucracy.
