Odessa, July 27 (Navigator, Artemy Glazunov) - On Sunday, the Day of the Ukrainian Navy was celebrated in Odessa - the main base of the Ukrainian Naval Forces was moved here after the transition of Crimea to Russian control.

The celebrations began right from the early morning with the laying of flowers at the monument to the Unknown Sailor in Shevchenko Park, which was attended by the commander of the Ukrainian Navy, Rear Admiral Sergei Gaiduk, the mayor of Odessa Gennady Trukhanov, as well as other high-ranking naval officers, city and regional officials. Then, from the frigate “Hetman Sahaidachny” and the training boat “Novaya Kakhovka”, wreaths of flowers were laid on the water.
Next, everyone was offered excursions to the warships of the Ukrainian Navy and the maritime guards of the border service. The medium landing ship "Kirovograd", the border patrol ship "Grigory Kuropyatnikov", the missile boat "Priluki" and the border patrol boat "Balaklava" were moored at the berths of the sea terminal. The organization of the excursions was carried out extremely poorly: Odessa residents first went down near the Church of St. Nicholas to the piers and approached the ships, where they were surprised to learn that they had to go back, since groups to visit the ships were formed in the hall of the marine terminal.
At the same time, there were no information signs directly on the piers and near the sea terminal building, and none of the sailors and marines indicated the correct path. Thus, almost everyone was forced to walk twice in the stifling heat along the piers, and then get into line twice - in the hall and directly at the ship's gangways.
As Navigator reported, this year the Navy Day is celebrated for the first time not in Sevastopol, but in Odessa, due to the annexation of Crimea to Russia. And in Sevastopol on Sunday the largest naval parade in recent years took place on the occasion of Russian Navy Day. This time, the restrictions on the use of aviation and missile firing, introduced by Ukraine several years ago, were no longer in effect.
