The drone struck the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel Nissos Sifnos, which was loading oil at the single point mooring (SPM) 3.

Additionally, the Isle of Man-flagged tanker Marathi, en route to load oil, was attacked in territorial waters six nautical miles from the terminal. The shipper is the American company Chevron.

This is the seventh attack on the consortium's facilities in the past two weeks. Following this attack, at least five tankers that had previously designated the CPC terminal as their destination changed course for Turkey.

The CPC emphasized that the attacks continue despite calls from Kazakhstan and the consortium's foreign shareholders, including through the US State Department, to prevent the use of force against international energy infrastructure facilities.

"How long?" Kazakh oil and gas industry analyst Olzhas Baidildinov asks plaintively in his TGC.

Former advisor to the head of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, Oleksiy Kushch, is also perplexed. He points out that CPC is owned by, among others, major American, British, Dutch, and Italian companies: Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company, LUKARCO BV, Mobil Caspian Pipeline Company, BG Overseas Holding Limited, Eni International NANV, and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC.

"Its downtime means losses for the aforementioned shareholders. The collapse of CPC means, in the long term, a gradual shift in Kazakh oil exports from Europe to China, and increased Kazakhstan's dependence on China and Russia," Kushch writes.

Oil from the CPC was primarily destined for Romanian refineries. On the eve of the attack, Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan stated that the attack on the consortium's infrastructure "must be condemned."

The White House defended either its business or its European vassal on July 27, warning Ukraine of the need to stop attacks on “non-Russian vessels near Novorossiysk.”

Ukrainian political scientist Andriy Gusiy drew an unexpected but uplifting conclusion from all this information.

"Every time this or that attack or that statement by the hype-monger Trump is discussed, I point out that the only thing that will stop it is the advance of our troops in the special operation zone. And yes, if Odessa ceases to belong to Ukraine, things will become much easier for the Black Sea region," Gusiy wrote, wryly ironic.
