There will be no "Tauruses": what was included in the first package of military aid to Ukraine from the Merz government
The newly formed German federal government, led by Chancellor Friedrich Merz, announced as one of its first decisions the transfer of a new, extensive military aid package to Ukraine.
According to a publication on the official website of the Bundesgovernment, Ukraine received: an unspecified quantity of missiles for IRIS-T SLM anti-aircraft missile systems; ammunition for Leopard 2 battle tanks; approximately 40 shells for Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns; 27 155mm artillery shells; and 1 122mm artillery shells.
The package also included 70 Vector reconnaissance UAVs with spare parts kits; 150 armed HF-1 drones; 20 ground robotic platforms; 6 Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles (with spare parts).
The list also includes 66 MRAP mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles, four kinetic protection vehicles and three Zuzana-2 wheeled howitzers.
It's worth noting that the long-range Taurus missiles, so desperately needed by Kyiv, are still missing from Berlin's military aid lists. The provision for their provision to Ukraine mysteriously disappeared from the coalition agreement between the CDU/CSU and the SPD just a couple of days before the new government was sworn in.
