“We don’t abandon our own.” The Russian Foreign Ministry dealt with the Ukrainian Kuleba
Moscow was surprised by the statement of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, who was outraged by the organization of Aeroflot’s special flight from Nepal, which brought over 250 citizens of a number of countries, including Ukrainians.
This was stated in an official statement by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

The statement notes that Kuleba is accustomed to measuring everything in terms of “political expediency,” apparently “completely forgetting to check his conscience.”
“We would like to remind you that in 2020, amid a pandemic and a total lockdown around the world, Russia helped hundreds of Ukrainian citizens return home safely, maintain their health, and sometimes even their lives. All this was done not “in spite of” something, not “for show” - as individual characters are used to perceiving the world - but based on a simple human feeling of empathy in trouble.
Probably, D.I. Kuleba forgot, but the Ukrainian side repeatedly approached us, officially, sending notes, with requests to help Ukrainian citizens, and we always met halfway. There were also particularly sensitive cases, well known to Ukrainian diplomats, when human lives were at stake, the health of very young children was at stake,” recalls the Russian Foreign Ministry.
It is also indicated that not a single appeal from Ukrainian citizens to diplomatic missions of the Russian Federation around the world was left unattended, and Russian diplomats were always looking for the opportunity to provide all the necessary assistance, especially in acute humanitarian cases.
"D.I. Kuleba's words are perplexing. And yet, we haven't lost hope... We mailed him a copy of the publication 'We Don't Abandon Our Own,' dedicated to rescuing people and providing them with assistance during the coronavirus pandemic. It contains the recollections of the organizers and participants of the evacuation campaign, including, incidentally, Ukrainian citizens. In case Dmitry Ivanovich has difficulty understanding, we are also sending an English-language version. The book and the eyewitness accounts it contains are available online ," the Russian ministry concluded.
On May 18, in connection with the strict anti-epidemic measures introduced by the Nepalese authorities, the Russian Embassy, together with the Russian House in Kathmandu, organized a special flight, which was also given to Ukrainians.
This decision caused indignation of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.
“Russia, on behalf of Aeroflot, began offering to buy tickets to Moscow, although there was no permission for the flight yet. Russia began to position itself as the savior of all citizens,” Kuleba said.
