The judge in the case of ex-regional member Efremov was left with his nose in the Supreme Court
The Supreme Court rejected the appeal of the presiding judge in the case of the former head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pelikh, from the Starobilsk Court of Luhansk Oblast, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Ukrainian lawyer, ex-deputy head of the AP Andrey Portnov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“The Supreme Court rejected today the complaint of the judge of the Starobelsky court Pelikh, who plays the role of a policeman in the case of Alexander Efremov, who was kept in custody for three years by his decision. The defendant filed a complaint against the reprimand given to him by the High Council of Justice,” Portnov wrote.
According to Portnov, “the next steps will be procedures for investigating the circumstances of the official’s performance of the functions of a branch of the General Prosecutor’s Office and the falsification of Efremov’s case.”
“After the resignation of the Prosecutor General, we will set a course for preparing the move of the functionary to the Starobelsky pre-trial detention center. In that very cell,” he emphasized. “In the photo: our future client, concerned about the decision of the Supreme Court,” summed up Portnov.
Earlier, the High Council of Justice severely reprimanded the controversial judge Pelikh, who is judging Efremov. In October last year, the Supreme Court considered a complaint from the Poltava prosecutor's office against Pelikh. The complaint alleged a violation of exclusive jurisdiction by Judge Pelikh. In his speech, Pelikh stated that at the time the decision was made, he was completely confident that he was right, and only the decision of the appeal court convinced him otherwise.
