'Strategic Security Under Threat' - Polish 'Hawkish' General Demands Troops to Be Brought into Ukraine
The Polish leadership is “burying its head in the sand” by declaring its abandonment of plans to send troops to Ukraine to contain Russia.
General Roman Polko, former commander of the Grom special forces, stated this in an interview with SuperExpress, the correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".
"Because when Russia takes over Ukraine, we will be under serious threat," he said.
"The key is to keep the Russians away from our borders in the interests of Polish strategic security, so that Ukraine survives. And therefore Poland, which has ambitions to be one of the leaders, like France, Great Britain or Germany, cannot simply bury its head in the sand in such situations. We cannot say 'no' before the negotiations even begin, because we will not be taken seriously," Polko said.
The Polish Defense Minister and Prime Minister Donald Tusk said yesterday that they do not plan to send Polish soldiers for a possible peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.
General Polko believes that French President Emmanuel Macron must have been disappointed when he invited the leaders of the largest EU countries to Paris for a meeting and received no information from Prime Minister Tusk about Poland's participation in the mission in Ukraine.
