Ukraine is not very well known in France; it is known for its agriculture and the armed conflict in Donbas, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The Ambassador of France to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins said this during a speech at the Kiev International Economic Forum, the press service of the embassy reports.
“Ukraine is not very well known in France yet. What is she known for? This is agriculture, a very strong agricultural sector, everyone knows about it, the conflict played a role. But what struck me when I arrived here was that the country has IT potential. I think you should generally promote this more powerfully. It's not just about having potential. You are already truly an IT country, you have already started this path,” the ambassador said.
According to him, it is important for Ukraine to constantly be reminded that it has powerful resources in this sector.
“Politics is very important, and we are all amazed at how determined the new government is, the new administration is determined to refocus on digital, on IT, and strengthen its influence in the country. I think you are the only country in Europe that has a deputy prime minister dedicated to digitalization. I don’t know where in other countries there is such a position in the government. This characterizes you exclusively on the positive side,” he added.
As PolitNvvigator previously reported, the EU ambassador said that Ukraine has the potential to become the “brains” of Europe.
