The US will no longer be able to be a monopolist in the world, having ceded its former positions to China and other countries. At the same time, the administration is still trying to save the situation, but its economic policy can be described as nothing but despair.
American economist Richard Wolf stated this on the Dialogue Works video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"If the US develops a strategy based on the monopoly position that its high-tech industries have achieved for a time, I have news for them. You will lose it. Monopolies always lose. You can't keep this monopoly.
This means that your strategy based on a monopoly position is built on sand that is gradually being washed away. The Chinese are also working on this. And, by the way, not only the Chinese, but other countries as well.
"The Chinese dominate rare earth metals and key industries, not just the automobile industry. Air travel, airplanes, defense, all of these require rare earth metals," he said.
"Will the US make efforts to find new sources? Of course they will. Will they be successful? Perhaps. But now, the more we talk about it, the more we realize that the strategy they are currently implementing is so risky that I think the word "desperation" best describes it"," Wolf concluded.
