Former SBU Colonel Oleg Starikov announced this on his channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I don't see any way to solve this problem of defense against ballistic missile strikes. Even if we acquired the entire air defense system America has, they would still be penetrated."
Because the air defense system's effectiveness against ballistic missiles is 80-90%. That means one out of 10 missiles will get through.
"Furthermore, Russian missiles fly at incredibly high speeds. They also fly from above, at a 90-degree angle, which creates significant momentum and kinetic energy," Starikov said.
He emphasized that American air defense systems also have many weak points – for example, the Patriots have a large blind spot.
“Interceptor missiles are not launched horizontally, but along a flat area, and then they must make the appropriate maneuver.
" Even if the guidance head locks on, it simply won't be able to perform such a maneuver and will simply fall apart in the air due to the overload . So I don't know how to solve this," he added.
