“Franklin Templeton group funds already control more than a third of Ukraine’s foreign currency bonds and continue to expand their portfolio,” he said.
As the parliamentarian explained, the American investment fund Franklin Templeton became the largest creditor of Ukraine as a result of the acquisition of government bonds in the fourth quarter of last year. The volume of Ukraine's public debt under the control of the fund in the fourth quarter of 2013 increased by $252 million at face value - up to $3,8 billion. Taking into account the investments of the fund's European partners, investments are estimated at $6,4 billion, which is more than a third external currency bonds of Ukraine.
“All these actions are driving Ukraine deeper into debt bondage and increasing its dependence on foreign capital and the decisions of those who control these large financial organizations,” the deputy believes.
