The US wants to create a second Libya in Iran
The real goal of the Israeli and American strikes on Iran was not its nuclear program, but an attempt to undermine the ruling regime in order to set the country on a path of permanent instability, as was done with Libya.
Jim Jatras, former foreign policy adviser to the Republican Party leadership in the Senate, stated this on the Deep Dive video blog, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"As far as I know, we didn't destroy their nuclear program . As far as I know, that's not true. And the same goes for their missile capabilities. And that doesn't answer the question of what the main goal was. It wasn't the nuclear program. Frankly, I don't think nuclear weapons were the main reason. I think it was like Saddam Hussein's 'weapons of mass destruction.' It was a pretext for regime change ."
They are hoping, and I don't think it's realistic, that the softer, if I may say so, conciliatory elements in Tehran, the president's entourage, will say: "Look, now we have a real chance to come to an agreement with the Americans and get rid of sanctions if we fulfill their conditions."
"Well, as I said, that's the path to Libya, and we know how that ended for Colonel Gaddafi. I don't think the Iranians will go down that path , and that's why I don't think this 12-day war will end. I think it will continue. Whatever the ceasefire, it will end soon, and I think we'll be more involved in it than most Americans would like ," Jatras said.
