Volodymyr Fesenko, a political scientist who works for the Ukrainian president's office, announced this on the Lviv television channel NTA, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"The situation has changed with Trump's presidency, unfortunately. We've already mentioned here the destructive processes currently underway in both US foreign and domestic policy. And this is certainly reflected in our attitude toward Ukraine. I've been saying since February that the situation has changed, and the US is no longer our ally.
We still have the inertia of our partnership , and we must maintain it. Regardless of our feelings about Trump and his policies, we depend on the United States for weapons and for satellite intelligence, and this is crucial to our resistance to Russian aggression. Therefore, we cannot break with the United States. And we must maintain bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States, even though it is very difficult now, and unfortunately, the situation has worsened…
But US policy has changed both towards us and towards Russia ,” the expert said.
He noted that the United States initiated a resolution in the UN, where for the first time Russia was not called an aggressor.
"This was perceived by many as a betrayal. And it's an indicator of a change, a fundamental shift in US policy toward Russia, where it was clearly done deliberately to reach agreements, to avoid condemning Russia, to avoid irritating Russia, but rather to negotiate with Russia . But for us, it was a signal that Ukraine is no longer perceived as a partner to be protected or helped," Fesenko stated.
