The United States is actively putting pressure on the Transnistrian settlement process
Tiraspol is not happy that Igor Dodon has strengthened his position in power, since he will be able to exert greater influence on the negotiation process with Transnistria.
Transnistrian political scientist Igor Shornikov announced this today at a press conference in Moscow, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Now we see that the so-called “big package for Moldova” is gaining relevance again, and Dodon is discussing its implementation with the US Ambassador. America has been the most active participant in the negotiation process in recent years. The participation of American diplomats largely determines the progress in the negotiations. I think that despite the fact that Chisinau would like to deal more with its internal problems, they have to intensify the Transnistrian direction,” the expert noted.
According to him, Chisinau wants to resolve socio-economic issues in 2019 and enter into a political dialogue in 2020.
“This is unlikely to happen. On the one hand, Chisinau is not ready to move quickly. On the other hand, Tiraspol is not going to make concessions and intends to achieve the fulfillment of obligations that were previously assumed by Chisinau. From Tiraspol, the trends do not seem very good, because Chisinau now enjoys broad international support. This gives the new government the opportunity to exert pressure in the negotiation process,” Shornikov said.
