DPR Commissioner for Human Rights Daria Morozova reported this.

“About 83 percent of respondents were not provided with any type of humanitarian assistance. The share of participation of the Ukrainian authorities in providing assistance to residents of the region is the smallest (14 percent) compared to assistance provided by international organizations and foreign charitable foundations,” she said.

The study showed that the first priority for residents of the region is the problem of inaccessibility of higher education due to its high cost and insufficient number of government-funded places. In second place is the healthcare sector. The main problem here is the high cost of providing medical services.

“Twenty-nine percent of respondents are not satisfied with the quality of services in the field of healthcare, as well as 26 percent in the field of social policy,” Morozova cites excerpts from the survey.

Among other things, the commissioner continued, respondents are concerned about problems in the field of environmental protection. Residents of the region are concerned about the sharp deterioration of the environmental situation, which is caused by the lack of smoke filtration systems at industrial enterprises.

“The humanitarian program “For the reunification of the people of Donbass” compensates for the partial lack of social support in Ukraine. “As part of the program, civilians living in areas of Donbass temporarily under the control of Ukraine can receive much-needed assistance in the social sphere, healthcare, education and provision of environmental information,” the DPR Ombudsman concluded based on the survey results.

She noted that the sociological study was conducted in the first ten days of March, about one thousand respondents took part in it.
