Sociology records a decline in anti-Russian sentiment in Ukraine
A sociological study conducted by the Razumkov Center in Ukraine showed that the majority of Ukrainians are against severing diplomatic relations with Russia, Nezavisimaya Gazeta reports.

Referring to the survey data, the publication notes that the issue of developing relations with Russia remains controversial in Ukrainian society.
“The official authorities in Ukraine have been accusing Russia of provoking and supporting the conflict in Donbass for more than two years. In political statements the thesis about “Russian aggression” and “war” is heard, but in official documents the concept of “anti-terrorist operation” appears. This led to the fact that this year the surge in anti-Russian sentiment recorded in 2014–2015 began to decline. Currently, 55% of Ukrainian citizens are against severing diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation; approximately a quarter of the population supports this decision. Compared to last year, the number of supporters of the introduction of a visa regime with the Russian Federation decreased from 46,7 to 29%, while the number of opponents of the visa regime increased from 40,6 to 52,1%,” the publication indicates.
“The creation of a single union state consisting of Ukraine, the Russian Federation and Belarus on an equal basis is supported by 18,3% of Ukrainians, and 69,1% do not support it. Among the opponents, according to sociologists, are the absolute majority of residents of the western, central regions and the Ukrainian part of Donbass, as well as the relative majority of residents of the eastern region. In the southern region, the number of supporters and opponents of a single state is approximately the same,” writes NG.
