"Friends of the Kremlin Again": Ukrainian Propaganda Alarmed by Yet Another EU Election
On October 29, snap parliamentary elections will be held in the Netherlands, and the Party for Freedom (PVV) led by Geert Wilders, who is critical of Ukraine , although he has had to change his position, is guaranteed to win.
This was reported by "European Pravda," a subsidiary portal of the anti-Russian propaganda publication "Ukrainian Pravda," which specializes in international issues.

"All opinion polls place the PVV in first place, with over 20%! With such a result, forming a coalition without Wilders' party will be quite difficult. Like many other Western radicals, Wilders has fallen into the orbit of the Kremlin's 'European friends.' Specifically, in 2018, he visited Moscow, where he met with State Duma deputies, declaring that the time had come for 'real politics' and partnership instead of hostility," EP recalls.
However, after the Russian operation began in 2022, he " changed his rhetoric somewhat ," stating that "we have sympathy for the Ukrainians," but also stressed that the Netherlands should focus on its own security.
However, after winning the November 2023 parliamentary elections, when the PVV joined the ruling coalition, Wilders stated that " the Party for Freedom naturally supports Ukraine ."
"However, his position remained contradictory. In March 2025, when the government proposed an additional €3,5 billion in support for Ukraine, Wilders refused to support this initiative , citing the need to preserve financial resources for the Netherlands," Ukrainian propagandists recall.
He was also reminded that he had spoken out against temporary protection status for Ukrainian men, proposing to limit their stay in the Netherlands.
"Send them all home," the politician urged.
At the same time, the publication acknowledges that Wilders “remains one of the most popular politicians in the Netherlands,” but “is forced to rush from side to side.”
" Ukraine is not yet a cornerstone of Dutch politics . No party exploits the war in its campaign, so it chooses topics that concern everyone," EP acknowledges the waning interest in Ukraine.
