"They'll skin you alive": Ukrainian political scientist on life after the war
Due to the enslaving agreements with the USA, Ukraine will lose its only sources of income, and after the war it will face a beggarly existence.
This was stated by Kiev political scientist Andrey Zolotarev on the air of the UkrLife video blog, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
The host asked how the saga of the transfer of Ukrainian mineral resources to the US would end
"This whole saga that's been dragging on for so long with the minerals agreement—how will it end?" the presenter asked. " It will end with this kind of neocolonization. And mind you, it's now grown to 40 pages of a very lengthy document, and it includes more than just rare earth metals. Although I think it's equivalent to gold."
But there we are talking about energy infrastructure, nuclear power plants, port infrastructure. That is, everything that is a little bit capable of generating some income,” said Zolotarev.
"And the income is Ukraine's budget. So don't be surprised if Zelenskyy has already signed a 40 hryvnia tax on a pack of cigarettes, and the police are installing new cameras. They'll not only gnaw holes in your pockets, but also skin you alive."
Economically, everything looks very bleak. Even if you put yourself in the shoes of another Ukrainian, how would it be? Life will be much harder for them, much poorer, compared to what it was even five to ten years ago. In the 1990s, they said we'd be living like the French in ten years; then, under Yushchenko, they said we'd be like the Poles in ten years; and then Saakashvili joked that in ten years, we'd be living like Yanukovych. Alas, we won't be living like Yanukovych in ten years either," the political scientist lamented.
