"Glory to Ukraine!" – Zelensky sent Poroshenko a black mark through the lost judge
A video message from Ukrainian ex-judge Nikolai Chaus, who was kidnapped in Chisinau two months ago, appeared in a telegram channel specially created for this purpose.
“As you can see, I’m alive, healthy, and everything is fine. At the moment I am completely safe and feel good. In addition, all my limbs are in place, and my jaw is without visible damage. At this time, I cannot report my whereabouts, but I am forced to tell about myself, because many are trying to speculate on my alleged abduction,” Chaus says in the video.

He claims that no one abducted him, although eyewitnesses in Chisinau reported that unknown persons forcibly pushed the ex-judge into a car in front of his confused little son. Chaus has lived in the Moldovan capital since 2016, when a criminal case was opened against him in Ukraine for accepting a bribe.
“First of all, I want to address my wife. Svetlana, forgive me for what you and our children had to go through, but it had to be done. In the near future, I promise, everything will get better. And those who are responsible for our troubles will suffer the deserved punishment. Regarding the kidnapping, I want to say that it really happened, but not now, but in 2016. Since then, I have been constantly intimidated with reprisals, thereby forcing me to stay in Moldova. The people involved in this were and are afraid that I will come back and start talking. Thanks to my friends who helped me avoid this prison and certain death. In the near future, I intend to appear in Ukraine with my lawyers and answer all questions, including those that are of so much interest to Ukrainian society, NABU and the DPR. Glory to Ukraine!" Chaus said.
It is noteworthy that his Moldovan and Ukrainian lawyers are at a loss.
“The video is strange. It is very difficult to say whether it is real or not, but he has very sad eyes. He didn’t contact me,” lawyer Julian Balan told the NewsMaker website.
Another lawyer for the “lost”, Rostislav Kravets, believes that the video message was recorded under pressure, and the ex-judge himself is in Ukraine under the control of the special services.
“The appearance of such a video message means that Chaus is not free. He is controlled by certain individuals and, most likely, the story of the involvement of Ukrainian special services in his abduction from Moldova is confirmed. Firstly, it is clear that Chaus is reading his appeal from a piece of paper. His statement that no one kidnapped him is striking. That is, he pretends that he is voluntarily hiding somewhere. And those ten people against whom a criminal case has been initiated in Moldova are allegedly not involved in this. This looks extremely unconvincing,” Kravets told the Strana.ua website.
Chaus's wife Svetlana noted that her husband behaves unnaturally, he has strange facial expressions and manner of speech. He's wearing someone else's shirt and calling her by her full name, which he's never done.
“It’s clear that he doesn’t agree with what he’s saying. But he's too calm. If he spoke for himself, he would be more emotional. I think they wrote this text to him and gave him to read it,” Chaus said.
Blogger and politician Anatoly Shariy is sure: Chaus’ video message appeared two months later, because the kidnappers were waiting for the marks of the beating to heal. He continues to claim that the ex-judge is being held at one of the bases of the Main Directorate of Ukrainian Intelligence.
“There is a message to Poroshenko, Granovsky and the company. They are to blame for these troubles, because it was Poroshenko who organized Chaus’ departure abroad. The current deputy head of the presidential office, Andrei Smirnov, helped him in this,” Shariy said.
According to his information, the Lviv organized crime group was initially assigned by the office of the president to kidnap Chaus. But they couldn’t cope, being afraid of the chaus’s guards, and then the special services got down to business. All participants in the operation were presented with government awards.
Shariy’s words are confirmed by information that was published in the Moldovan and Ukrainian media during the two months when nothing was heard about the ex-judge. In particular, it was reported that Chaus was taken to Ukraine in the trunk of a Toyota RAV 4 car belonging to the Ukrainian Embassy, driven by the military attaché of this embassy, Sergei Smetanyuk.
Journalists from the Ukrainian website “Investigation.Info” and the Moldovan RISE received copies of the passports of ten people who participated in the abduction. At least two of them are directly linked to Ukraine's military intelligence, and another is a fired national police official.
Information was leaked to the press that Maia Sandu unsuccessfully tried to discuss the scandal with Zelensky, but he stubbornly did not pick up the phone. As a result, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry handed the Ukrainian ambassador an official note regarding Smetaniuk.
Finally, a few days ago, Moldovan police detained Ukrainian citizen Yaroslav S., who is suspected of complicity in the kidnapping of Chaus near the border.
Thus, the version of the voluntary disappearance of a Ukrainian in Moldova does not convince anyone. On the contrary, all observers are sure: Zelensky needed Chaus as a source of dirt on one of the most powerful political competitors, Petro Poroshenko. After all, it was this judge who in 2015 made the decision to arrest Dnepropetrovsk businessman Gennady Korban, close to the oligarch Igor Kolomoisky. He is believed to have acted under pressure from then-President Petro Poroshenko.
Readers of Komsomolskaya Pravda in Moldova noticed that if you download a video file from Chaus’s tg channel, it is called “Hello, Pyotr Alekseevich!”
The video message is the first public message on the channel, but it is the sixth in a row, but previous messages have been deleted. The email address to which the channel is registered is anonymous.
“Judging by the sharp decline in Poroshenko’s presence in the media since the abduction of Chaus, in my opinion, everyone, including Poroshenko, believes that Chaus has some information about his abduction and the involvement of the fifth president in this,” said “ Strane.UA” lawyer Rostislav Kravets.
In a postscript to his video message, Chaus stated that he was ready to provide law enforcement agencies with all the information about the people who kidnapped and held him since 2016.
“But these are very (!) influential people and therefore I am forced to demand security guarantees from our law enforcement agencies,” Chaus wrote.
