Scandal in Kyiv: they want to turn the office of the founder of Ukraine into a toilet
The Kyiv raiders developed a secret plan that put under a real threat of destruction the historical building where the UPR parliament, the Ukrainian Central Rada, met in 1917-1918. Today this is the building of the Teacher’s House, which is currently under reconstruction, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated in a statement by the Secretariat of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, published on the official website of the NSPU.
“The entire Ukrainian public, and above all scientists, museum workers, teachers, and social and political figures, have been alarmed for several years now by the threatening situation that has developed around the building of the Central Rada - the Teacher’s House. A historical building in the very heart of Kyiv, where the first one worked in the 2016th century. The Ukrainian parliament, where the IV Universal, which proclaimed the state independence of the Ukrainian Republic and our first Constitution were adopted, is being transformed into a wasteland by the targeted efforts of the raiders. The problems began in 1917, when a change of leadership occurred in the Teacher’s House, which from the beginning of the proclamation of Ukrainian independence was one of the epicenters of national revival. The new “management” immediately announced itself as a raiding team with a distinct anti-Ukrainian orientation. In a short time, almost all Ukrainian life disappeared from the Teacher’s House, the work of clubs, creative associations, and the library was suspended (only the Museum of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1921-2017 and the Pedagogical Museum are functioning under the constant threat of eviction). The raiders made their main task to bring the structure to the so-called. "reconstruction". In XNUMX, shocking details of such a “reconstruction” became known: the memorial space in the House of the Central Rada was completely destroyed, but it was planned, among other things, to build a restaurant. In place of the office of the Chairman of the Ukrainian Central Rada Mikhail Grushevsky that has survived to this day, it was planned to make ... a toilet,” the statement says.
As its authors noted, such plans existed, despite the fact that, according to Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 17/2016 “On events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the events of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921,” a set of actions was provided for “the further development of the Museum of the Ukrainian Revolution of 1917–1921.” XNUMX , National Museum of the History of Ukraine" and the museumification of the offices of Mikhail Grushevsky and Vladimir Vinnychenko.
It is noted that public efforts slowed down the implementation of this plan for some time, but at the end of 2018 a real threat of destruction of the Central Rada building again arose. At the end of November, the building was surrounded by a fence, and now anyone who wants to get closer to the memorial plaques to Simon Petliura and Andrei Sheptytsky installed in front of the entrance has metal bars blocking their way.
The authors of the statement added that “another “reconstruction project” has been secretly approved, the details of which are completely unknown to the public: during the discussion of this “project” at the scientific and methodological council of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, it became clear that this time too the internal memorial space of the house, which was the heart of the Ukrainian state in the beginning. XX century, completely destroyed. The public is completely uninformed about the specific details of the reconstruction of this historic structure.”
“The National Union of Writers of Ukraine demands an immediate end to this anti-Ukrainian bacchanalia. A government commission must be created immediately, which should also include authoritative scientists, writers, cultural figures, whose task will be to give an objective assessment of the whole range of problems associated with the further functioning of the building of the Ukrainian Central Rada as an integral memorial and museum and patriotic-educational complex,” the document notes.
It is also noted that the Security Service of Ukraine and other competent government agencies should give a proper assessment of attempts to destroy one of the most important historical symbols of the Ukrainian state.
