Sivkov: “We could have defeated Ukraine in May 2022. We fear the West and protect the peaceful world"
Russia is being cautious in Ukraine, not carrying out quick operations to defeat the Ukrainian Armed Forces and not using a number of its weapons.
Military expert Konstantin Sivkov stated this on the air of the internet channel "Perspektiva", reports a correspondent of "PolitNavigator".
According to Sivkov, it would have been possible to finish with the Ukrainian Armed Forces back in May last year, by encircling them in the Donbass, just as the Soviet troops of the Nazis were surrounded and destroyed in the Battle of Stalingrad.
“From a military-strategic point of view, Russia could have completely defeated Ukraine by May last year. But she doesn't. Russia, instead of encircling this grouping of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donbass and Lugansk, and then destroying it, as they did with Paulus’s army at Stalingrad, began to smoothly, carefully squeeze the enemy out of the territory of Donbass and Lugansk,” the expert said.
“Russia does not use such powerful strike weapons as heavy free-fall bombs from long-range and front-line bombers - the so-called carpet bombing. It does not use a number of other powerful weapons, with the exception of filigree targeted strikes on individual objects.
Because she fears that the West may begin to act harshly, on the one hand, and on the other hand, it solves the problem in such a way as to minimize casualties among the civilian population,” says Sivkov.
However, he did not explain how Russia can carry out carpet bombing in the conditions of echeloned enemy air defense, when the Aerospace Forces (as well as Ukrainian aviation) do not cross the front line at all.
