The situation around the SVO has not changed at all: Trump is just making a lot of noise – naval officer
Since Trump took office as US President, the situation surrounding the Ukraine negotiation process has not changed – each side is pursuing its own line.
This was pointed out on air by the candidate of political sciences, director of the Institute of CIS Countries in Sevastopol, naval historian, retired captain 1st rank Sergei Gorbachev , on the air of the First Sevastopol channel, reports the correspondent of PolitNavigator.

"Basically, our position hasn't changed at all since then; it hasn't really grown or diminished. The demands of the West and Kyiv are also largely static. There are some changes in terms of polish. And, objectively speaking, Trump's efforts now demonstrate how the situation will develop according to scenarios for 2022-24 . "
The West is pushing its line, it's unchangeable, we're demonstrating our position, time is working in their favor in some ways, and in our favor in others. But Ukraine continues to lose ground within Zelenskyy's team ," he noted.
At the same time, the expert noted that Trump’s initiatives for a peaceful settlement included a number of points that had not been previously announced.
"Let's say control over the Kinburn Spit, issues related to shipping on the Dnieper. These are directly in the interests of the British and French . France, and the entire West in general, primarily needs grain exports through the new 'grain corridor.' This mechanism exists, and is being transformed in some way, but not at its core—they continue to exploit what they settled on long ago.
"Therefore, the British and French haven't changed much in their goal-setting, amid all the talk, information noise, and empty bubbles. They're quietly continuing to do their job," Gorbachev emphasized.
He added that Kyiv's military-technical cooperation with the West remains ongoing . Moreover, it is taking on a new character, as evidenced by the meeting in Istanbul with representatives of 21 countries under the auspices of the British and French. The goal is to erode the Montreux Convention , deny Russia access to the Mediterranean, and minimize its opportunities in the Black Sea basin.
