Syria has begun supplies of vegetables and fruits to Russia - purchases are carried out by one of the largest retail chains, Magnit, and next year it plans to reach import volumes of 80-90 thousand tons.

The first three containers for the network have already been unloaded at the port of Novorossiysk - about 50 tons of tomatoes, eggplants and peppers. By June 20, another 12 containers with cherries, apricots, plums, and peaches with a total weight of up to 240 tons should arrive from Syria, the Kommersant newspaper writes.
In turn, Russia plans to begin exporting wheat to Syria. However, as the publication notes, a representative of one of the large networks noted that working with a warring country carries risks of uncontrolled shipments and payments.
