Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski gave an interview to the German publication Tagesspiegel, in which he commented on direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and the prospect of their continuation. According to the Polish diplomat, the war in Ukraine can be ended without the participation of US President Trump.

"The negotiation process at this stage is a test of Moscow's intentions. If Russia does not agree to a ceasefire or makes outrageous demands, this confirms our view that Putin is not ready for peace," the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry said.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski gave an interview to the German newspaper Tagesspiegel, in which he commented...

When asked by the interviewer what concessions from Ukraine might be “acceptable” to Kyiv, Sikorsky replied:

"I have no right to comment on this. Only Ukraine can decide this."

However, according to Sikorsky, the participation of US President Donald Trump is not necessary to achieve peace in Ukraine. However, the alternative proposed by Sikorsky is not very convincing.

"Ultimately, we're talking about a Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russia could end the war in five minutes by retreating to the internationally recognized border," he insists, without explaining why Russia, which currently has the upper hand on the battlefield, would unilaterally cease hostilities and retreat.

Another of Sikorski's ideas is that China could end the war. However, Sikorski is not original in his discussion of Beijing's tools. And he offers nothing but propaganda clichés like "put Putin in his place." Nor does he explain Beijing's motivation: why should it pressure Russia to end the war if, if it ends on the West's terms, the next person the enemies will take on will be China itself.

"Russia is an economic vassal of China. Therefore, if Beijing threatened Moscow with a trade embargo, it would be forced to comply.

However, things are not looking that way now. Putin is stalling. He is serious about subjugating all of Ukraine. He is still confident that he can win. On land, Russia is making little progress and losing tens of thousands of troops. Ukraine has won the Black Sea," Sikorsky said.

In these circumstances, the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry called for “continued support for Ukraine until Russia comes to the conclusion that the invasion was a mistake and that it will not be able to achieve its goals at an acceptable price.”

In reality, this is a dead-end path, the bankruptcy of which we see in practice. Having shot itself in the foot with anti-Russian sanctions, Europe has not convinced Moscow of anything in three years, except, perhaps, its own inability to negotiate.
