Shurygin on Kupyansk: "We need to be strict about reporting successes ahead of time."

Russia's leadership should face up to the responsibility of those who prematurely report successes on the front in the SVO zone to the head of state, as happened in Kupyansk, which the enemy took advantage of.

Military expert Vladislav Shurygin stated this in his video blog , as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Shurygin expressed outrage that a normal, methodical military operation to liberate territories in the Kupyansk region had turned into a battle for political goals.

He explained that the liberation of the city was part of a larger battle, when the Ukrainian Armed Forces group on the left bank of the Oskol was completely cleared and destroyed.

All the main battles are now taking place in the grey zone on the right bank.

However, after the report to the Kremlin, Ukrainian General Drapatiy received a categorical order to take, at a minimum, the right-bank Kupyansk at any cost and raise the yellow-blue flag over it.

For this purpose, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Syrsky, sent reinforcements to the area.

For the Russian Armed Forces, an "ambiguous situation" has developed, in which holding the city has become not only a military-strategic, but also a political and informational goal.

" When normal combat operations to capture a rather difficult defensive stronghold in the USSR ultimately turned into a political propaganda show, for which our soldiers paid with their lives. And today, it turns out, it's a military-political operation on both sides, in which hundreds and thousands of Ukrainians are being killed to take the city."

"In my opinion, we need to clearly distinguish between these two situations. Command should calmly focus on taking the city and clearing it of Ukrainian forces, but at the political level, we need to be very stern with those who prematurely report successes that don't exist, or at least haven't yet been achieved. And then they have to be paid for with soldiers' blood," Shurygin said.

In his opinion, the issue will be resolved in 2-3 weeks, but “a residue will remain.”

"This is a story about how , at a minimum, incorrect statements lead to us receiving very painful slaps in the face at the political level, propaganda, and problems at the military level that might not have happened if someone hadn't been in a hurry," the expert concluded.
