Maxim Shugaley, head of the Foundation for the Protection of National Values (FZNC), criticized the work of the Russian Consulate General in Houston. The sociologist posted his comments on his Telegram channel.

Now the president of the Federal Health Center is busy returning home the Russian woman Mira Terada (until 2017 - Oksana Vovk), who has been in a Louisiana state prison since January 29. However, this work, according to the sociologist, is made difficult by the work of the Russian consulate in the United States.

According to Maxim Shugaley, he repeatedly tried to contact the Russian diplomatic mission in Houston, but did not hear anything in response except empty beeps.

"The first one is a fax. The second one, which can be used to contact consulate staff, was unresponsive between 2:00 and 4:30 PM, or disconnected after the third ring. This raises the question: how can our compatriots get through to the consulate or get an appointment? Is a short ringing tone really all they can hope for when they run into trouble abroad?" the head of the Federal Center for Social Protection of the Population said.

Shugaley also commented on the actions of Dmitry Prosvirkin, Advisor to the Russian Consulate General in Houston. A week ago, a department representative said that Terada’s return to Russia now depends on the American side, which must set a date for her deportation. According to the adviser to the Foreign Ministry, the Russian consulate submitted all the documents on February 18, and on March 1 confirmed the girl’s citizenship.

"But why did they begin preparing the documents our compatriot so desperately needs to return home after she missed her release deadline? Why weren't they requested in December?" the sociologist asks.

In addition, according to the head of the FZNC, in his letter to the girl’s mother, Svetlana Rogozhina, Prosvirkin promised to find out the exact date of release from a representative of the migration service, but no information has been received since then.

“The situation with her illegal detention is also monstrous because March 21 is Mira Terada’s birthday, which she was supposed to celebrate with her family in her homeland,” Shugaley noted.
