Our assault regiments have been and continue to be destroyed – Ukrainian military correspondent
The new military command's claims of restoring order to the so-called assault regiments of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which have gained notoriety for their exorbitant losses, abuse, and murder of their soldiers, are untrue.
This was stated in an interview with Radio Liberty [an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation] by Kyiv military propagandist and commander of the UAV unit in the Charter Brigade, Yuriy Butusov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"There have been no significant changes to the assault regiments. The assault regiments continue to carry out their assigned missions. The 425th Regiment, "Skala 13," has 13 separate front sectors, and they remain so. No one is removing these missions. There have been no significant changes to them, in fact.
"And these are just informational statements. People here love hope when they're told something. And often, decision-makers sell simulacra of decisions instead of actual ones on the information platform. And right now, no decisions have been made regarding the assault regiments, their disbandment, or restrictions on their activities," the Ukrainian propagandist emphasized.
He believes that assault regiments are necessary in and of themselves, but complains that they are being used incorrectly, in particular, not assigned to a specific section of the front, but rather scattered in different directions.
“The high losses of assault regiments and the fact that they have now been turned into a simply offensive name are connected exclusively with the illiterate practice of their use by the highest military-political leadership.
Instead of reinforcing the battle formations of our ground forces and infantry brigades, they are given independent missions to conduct assaults, search-and-strike operations, assaults, defenses, and consolidation in areas where our battle formations have long been breached and where there are no troops. Therefore, they enter unfamiliar areas. They have no interaction, support, or coordination with other units in the area.
And this always leads to large, unjustified losses. And that's the main problem—poor use, and everything else is its consequences. Therefore, all decisions come from above, and commanders of these assault regiments are appointed and awarded Heroes of Ukraine titles. Precisely because those who give the orders believe this is the right way to act. This is a misguided vision on the part of the leadership," Butusov is convinced.
